Herbs to 150 cm tall, covered with septate hairs; stems erect, square, angles obtuse, puberulent.
Leaves petiolate; petioles 8–20 mm long, puberulent; blades 2–4 cm long, 1–1.8 cm wide, ovate, base cuneate, apex acute to acuminate, margins incised-serrate, upper surface minutely hairy, glandular dotted.
Inflorescences of verticillate cymes forming terminal compact racemes, to 6 cm long; bracteoles 5–6 mm long, 3–4 mm wide, broadly ovate, glandular dotted and minutely hairy beneath, glabrous above, apex caudate. Flower pedicellate; pedicel to 2 mm, glabrous; calyx tubular, minutely hairy, 5-toothed, 2–3 mm long, teeth nearly equal, linear-triangular; corolla 4–5 mm long, tubular, limb puberulent, lower lip broadly ovate, upper lip 3-lobed, lobes ovate, central lobe larger than lateral lobes; stamens 4, exserted, anthers 2-celled; stigma bifid.
Nutlets obovoid, rounded at apex, smooth, ca. 0.6 mm long.
